Our best January signing?
Was scanning our January transfers in the last 10 years or so, reminding myself of some of the many Roger Johnson-like signings we have made in this month.

Was Demba Ba the only one who really hit the ground running?

Gary O'Neil was pretty useful after we went down.

Are their better ones going further back or am I missing someone?

Has to be Vladimir Labant.

To be fair we've signed some utter shite in January transfer windows.

This time a year ago plenty would be grouping Snodgrass in with them.

Stretching the 10 years a bit, Dean Ashton in 2006, was a great signing.

Until he got crocked.

Ricardo Vaz Te

He was pretty handy, in the championship at least.

1000000000% Vaz Te.

Cost 500k, return was the biggest prize in football (purely in money terms as I'm pretty sure if you win the Play Off Final in terms of revenue you get a windfall which is double that of the Champions League).

Best signing this season is Declan Rice.

Re: Our best January signing?
Rufus Brevett was an excellent January signing for us. His acquisition, combined with bringing Glen Johnson back from loan, almost saved us from relegation that year.

Before that, our two full-backs were a creaky-kneed Nigel Winterburn at the age of 723, and Tom 'Stare of a Killer/Touch of A Rapist' Repka.

Seem to recall Ilan scoring some important goals in his loan spell.

Absolute shout for Vaz Te. Dread to think what state we’d be in now without his goals back then.

Re: Our best January signing?
Vaz Te plays in China after never being able to hold down a job, he had the physique and wasn't short of talent, must just have an utter shitcunt of an attitude?

Cholo

Now, as much as I love the guy, I’m not necessarily sure it’s an attitude issue.

His level was the championship.

Hartson and Kitson get my vote too. Transformed what would have been a dreadful season.

Re: Our best January signing?
Agree with Hartson and Kitson, we would have been relegated without them two. Pissed off when Harry sold Hartson to Wimbledon!
